Trumpets and Fanfare
Some weeks (months?) ago, I mentioned that I had majorly huge ginormous news that I was sitting on.
I don't have to sit on it anymore.
I just sold an original novel to Wizards of the Coast's "Discoveries" line.
"But Ari, while that's cool and all, haven't you already done a novel for WotC?"
Why, yes, I have. But the Ravenloft novel was work-for-hire. This? This is an honest-to-God sale, a completely original novel sold to a publisher. It is not work-for-hire. It is not a D&D or shared-world novel. While it happens to be published via the same company that does D&D, it is not in any way, shape, or form RPG-related.
In other words, it's a "real" fantasy novel, even by the standards of those who (for whatever reason) look down on shared-world fiction.
And it's a done deal. :-)
Look for Shades of Grey, on shelves--and alphabetized under "M," not in the D&D section--as of September of '08. :-D
